Joyce Update!!!

Remember a while back I posted the worst album covers that I could find?
"Joyce" was one of them- and I've not been able to find out who she was.
Today I am happy to report that I have FINALLY found out who in the hell Joyce is!
Or should I say was?

Her full name is Joyce Drake and her album, simply titled "Joyce" was released in 1983 and includes the track "I Get All Excited."
Damn.
I hate to think how she looked when she was excited.
Im still looking for the track to post here- if anyone has it please contact me!!

Thanks to Nick Di Fonzo's new book, The Worst Album Covers in the World
If you live in the UK you should be able to find it for about £7.99

I would have enjoyed hearing the whole song. I have enjoyed finding this album cover and happy to hear alittle of the music. Joyce should be very proud of her accomplishments and the record cover is very nice!
Thanks-

I want Joyce to have my babies

becky's comment kicks ass

HEY CARL - I HAVE A SEALED COPY OF THE JOYCE LP!

It can be found on my website, Black Gem Records, at www.blackgemrecords.com. You can contact me from there.

Here's a link to her page: http://blackgemrecords.com/gallery/v/forsale-bydate/08April16/joyce.jpg.html

Hope to hear from you!

I want to buy this album - or at least 'hear' it. Has anyone got a copy for sale or a CD version?

Cheers

Carl (Nottingham, UK).

Joyce is my sister. Everything you are all saying about her is true, kind, sweet, loving, inspirational and a great pianist. I'm touched that you are interested in her music from so long ago. Blessings, Babs Klassen

Hey, I have this LP. A couple tunes are hilarious. You can check it out on my web site, the Black Gem Records "Odd-itorium" (yes, I'm shamelessly promoting it!) at http://blackgemrecords.com.

Cool lp covers for fun browsing or purchase. More than 2500 available, plus a nice archive of sold ones. Believe it or not, I have some you might think are even BETTER than Joyce (though she's pretty tough to beat). Enjoy!

America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, badass speed.

I ran across this site while looking into the whols Joyce phenom. I know Joyce...she does live back in Sealy and there are a couple copies of the album left but just personal ones. It was also produced in cassette format with the same cover.

I too grew up in Sealy in the 1970s. I met Joyce once and she seemed very nice. I remember that she was a hell of pianist, but I had no idea she had cut an album. I wonder if she knows she's an Internet celebrity? I was trying to explain this weird Joyce phenomenom to my mother recently and she said she had heard Joyce and her husband might be moving back to Sealy. If so, I'll try to snag an album. Ha ha! Yes!

We think Joyce is HOTT!!!!!!!
She inspired us to make sweet sweet love to a Burmese python!!1

We think she is THE BOMB!!!!!!!!

Hey, I ran accross your site while looking up info on Walter Solek for my new book... I swear, my stupid Joyce record really has gotten around. FYI, I have never seen another one. I have a feeling they are in some giant warehouse of unsold records somewhere. Check www.BizarreRecords.com for more bizarre records!

Yes.. that DOES look like Dorothy Michaels from Tootsie! I thought the very same thing. I'm currently looking for a copy of this album.. If I find it - I'll send you a file of some of the trax!

lord have mercy, she has another album i think called joyce 1999

Joyce Drake was the pastor's wife at First Assembly of God in Sealy, Texas when I was a little girl in the 1970's. She was really very nice. I don't know of any other albums that she ever made.

Oh my lord, that looks like Dorothy Michaels from Tootsie
